Coronavirus Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Due to the nature of the COVID-19 pandemic and the sweeping recommendations of numerous health and government officials, we must close our doors to all elective procedures for the safety of our community. Elective procedures are defined as any procedure that does not involve treating a medical emergency to preserve life.

Your braces will continue to straighten your teeth all day and night. Proper elastic wear will continue to correct your bite. Wash your hands before and after handling your elastics or if you touch your braces for any reason.

 

Please make sure you keep good oral hygiene by brushing and flossing twice a day. DO NOT eat sticky, chewy, gooey or hard foods to avoid any breakage. If you are wearing any elastics, you may continue to do so as directed unless something is broken. If something is broken, please stop wearing your elastics.

Please keep wearing your active aligners (trays) as instructed to continue progressing your treatment.

 

If you do not have any more trays to continue to your next week, it is perfectly fine to reduce your last tray to night time wear only to ensure that your teeth stay in position. This will also extend the life of the last tray until we are allowed to bring you in. Please clean and save your last three trays to have as a backup in case you break or lose your current tray. Keep your trays clean and avoid all drinks other than water while wearing them to prevent staining.

 

We are always excited when our patients take their first step towards a beautiful and confident smile! We are hopeful that this schedule alteration will be short. Please know that as soon as it is possible to do so, we will expedite this process for you!

Although nejatortho care is very safe for patients and providers with standard universal precautions and sterilization protocols, the removal of orthodontic bonding materials produces aerosols may be an unnecessary risk. Postponing these appointments that involve this is ideal at a time like this. Please follow proper brushing and flossing twice daily to maintain your dental health until we can bring you in. We will continue performing removal of braces & attachments when we are advised that it is safe to do so.

These appointments are very important, but by their nature become elective at a time like this. We will maintain all appointment records within our computer system, and will reschedule them appropriately when we are allowed to do so.

It is important to continue wearing your elastics, aligners (trays) or retainers to maintain your treatment progress or your treatment result. Please wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water before and after handling, elastics, trays, or retainers.

 

Your trays & retainers can also be rinsed or cleaned using a toothbrush or OTC cleaning solutions such as retainer brite or other conventional items that you can purchase. When cleaning the appliance, rinse thoroughly in cold water. Do NOT use high temperatures to avoid hurting yourself or distorting the trays or retainers.

It is important to wear your retainers after your treatment is complete to prevent teeth from shifting. Call our office AND text our clinical director we can contact you to see how best to handle this situation.

Patients will not be allowed at the office at this time. The office will open on April 6, however our team is available to answer all your concerns via phone or email.
